About

I’m an Industrial Designer from TU/e. My work is focused on producing quality results and making a significant impact. I’m always happy to apply the experience and skills I’ve obtained throughout my life and career to an interesting project, especially one that involves creative problem-solving and innovative thinking. Have a look at all I’ve worked on, and let me know if you have any questions

VISION

My vision for the future of society and myself is a compilation of the stories I have come across in my projects, and the inspiration I have carried on from the diverse groups of people within my study. As a designer, I enjoy story-telling, bringing people's visions to life through my work. Hence, establishing a connection with the users produces an emotion and a personal feeling towards the design process and development of the product.  It allows you, the designer, to dive into the lives of people, learning about their backgrounds, differences, emotions, thoughts, needs and wants. With an array of resources, there is the power to translate stories into solutions through physical and digital phases, furthermore, becoming fluent in traversing from physical to digital and back. However, with industries constantly changing, there is a constant need to re-invent oneself as a designer, which gives us more opportunities to contribute meaningful human-centric experiences from complex problems. Being an Industrial Designer gives you a multitude of things to explore, bringing creativity to the table but also a business attitude and mindset, in order to sell to the goal rather than the product in itself.

As a Designer, I want to be able to bring about an experience, meaning, and story for the people and by the people. I enjoy thinking outside the box, and hence with the right tools, make a human-centered experience. However, there is not enough motivation to place users at the center of the design process. I think to create a meaningful experience, it is important to include them in the design process instead of purely obstructing oneself to a constructed process in order to find easy, quick solutions to complex problems. When creativity takes control of the wheel, various explorations could be created which helps sell your process easily.  If one used the advantage of technology to be centric toward the necessary target, the design stems from an understanding, of which room can be made for logical and analytical thinking, instead of it being vice-versa. Being from the faculty of Industrial Design, I have come across inspiring, and motivating stories for different user groups, hence, I want to be able to provide comfort, meaningful experience, playfulness,  and the ability to feel different emotions motivating them to use the product. However, this gets lost in the translation with continuous societal changes and challenges, rooting for economic development rather than societal development.

PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY

Establishing a professional identity helps create a well-thought-out approach to a career plan, describing said goals surrounding what can be offered and which can be further developed. My identity as a professional designer is a compilation of traits developed outside and within my study, with traits picked up by getting accustomed to changes in different aspects of being a designer as well as an international student. I grew up witnessing various cultures co-existing in one place, Oman, where I had the privilege of experiencing the middle-east culture whilst being brought up in an Indian household.  Being a third-culture child, gave me the opportunity and space to be welcoming, and understanding with an appetite to enlighten myself.  Even within my school, it was a diverse group of students coming from various cultural and traditional backgrounds, teaching such differences through organized group gatherings. Hence, this provided a taste of being motivated, eager, and making the necessary connections. Coming into the study, I was excited to apply creativity using these traits and develop my practical traits through the design process. With time, I started to apply these traits to further improve myself as a person and a designer which was visible in the role I took on within projects, such as accepting, eager, and following creativity with getting the hang of the reigns to execute practicality.  However, with the mindset to follow and fit in, I usually took the backseat and did not voice needed opinions, this was received in peer feedback within projects which helped me to push myself to develop my presentation and confidence skills.

Hence, with the ability to be understanding, accepting, motivated, and willing to learn and improve, I began to broaden my horizons and take up tasks that needed me to put myself out there and develop skills necessary for my future. Such traits encourage me to connect with the user's experience inviting me to tackle the problem by understanding their needs, wants, and the root of the problem to develop a goal. I am much more of a creative designer while working in a team, which allows me to focus on developing new skills which are helpful to apply when working alone. However, in order to take more of a leadership and executive role, I pushed myself to join teams outside of my study such as working in a student team, which forced me to execute and leader instead of being a follower. I am always intrigued to learn about people's backgrounds, inspirations, stories, and interests which puts me in a position to research and design from a user experience point of view. In order to communicate users needs and wants is done through a visual direction of communication to appeal to different stakeholders and make it easier to communicate as well which is interesting to develop and explore.
