RECOVER@HOME
Recover@Home is a student team that aims to create innovative remote healthcare solutions by utilizing innovative technologies to enable the recovery of patients at home. Current recovery programs are mainly focussed on the physical parts of the process while the psychosocial aspects are less well covered while equally important (if not more). The team is creating a development platform that will enable student teams to develop VR augmented health applications that can be validated and implemented in controlled environment. But means specific e/MTIC challenges, student teams will utilize the Recover@Home platform to create and validate VR Augmented health applications.
During the first phase and launch of recover@home, i worked on the several sub-teams, which are, working on the real-time website to set - up easy communication and analysis of measurements taken by the patients which need to be communicated to health-care professionals. Furthermore, I was also part of the team that worked on making a miniature very-own pulse oximeter and spirometer to get the reigns of working with technology and realizing the findings. Apart from this, I was part of the team that helped visualize the feel and look of the website, in order to create an inviting yet simple outlook. Working in this student team, helped me talk to many experts as well as patients recovering from COVID-19, including the target group suffering from other ailments who had been affected by COVID.

Within the magazine, i was part of the visual team which gave me an opportunity to improve my design software skills and work with diferent layouts and angles. I was interested in broadening my professional skills and communication skills along with applications on visualizations.
OVERALL GROWTH
Throughout this year I have grown tremendously as a designer speaking from the skills I have developed and having an idea of what I should develop for my upcoming years at TU/e. Being an international student I have learned to adapt to my new environment and learned to tackle situations with the resources at hand. Outside of my development as a student, I have developed into a radical and technical person. This plays an important role while working in teams as well as individually since it helps to look at every minute detail and help me to process how necessary that detail is. Through these courses, I have understood various aspects of design and how it is to be a designer.
My identity and vision have been strengthened by the skills I developed and it has helped me to understand my goal in life better. The idea of creating a PDP has helped me to keep in check what I want to achieve in accordance with my vision and how I want to achieve them. I can now make a better connection with my identity and vision.
The development in each competency area has contributed immensely to my overall growth and helped me to segregate my interests and disinterests. It has helped me to understand my peers as well as other designers better and provided inspiration.
Due to a large number of group project, this has played an important role in improving my teamwork and collaboration. At the start, I struggled to speak up and hence couldn’t put my opinions on the table since I didn't have confidence in my ideas. Hence I only developed these skills later on which was late into the course. I started to speak up in group meetings and put forward my ideas, while getting good responses in return boosted my confidence. I tried to present more often in order to improve my public speaking and presenting skills. Further due to corona, the team meetings became more digitalized and hence it became easier in a way to present and ask questions. To improve my communication I directed my focus in expanding my circle and trying things outside the box such as enrolling in a student team.
For P1, I contributed mainly to the creativity and aesthetics expertise of most of the projects in addition to the business area. I pushed myself to try to research new topics and try to help others in their work since I wanted to learn about different areas of the project. In various other courses such as creative electronics, besides taking the initiative to learn more about circuits, I also reported all our findings, made posters, and videos to visualize the data. Further in the USE course, I researched more about sustainable solutions to protect the environment which is in line with my vision and compliments my identity. Apart from this, I had developed professional skills by volunteering in MUN back in high school and this showed how to act in a professional environment and how to carry yourself. Further, I had also volunteered at a camp and this developed my patience and improved my behavior with people. I have been part of the student team RECOVER@HOME, as well as the past year joined the UNID magazine which provides a voice and entertainment within the Industrial design faculty. With the help of these teams, I could improve my communication and presentation skills. Moreover, I came in touch people from different backgrounds and learned more in expertise areas I couldn’t gain knowledge such as technology & realization, business & entrepreneurship as well as user & society. Furthermore, I wanted to improve my software design skills and cultivate my visualizations skills which is necessary especially while designing for a large user group.
