Creativity & Aesthetics

At the beginning of Q1, I was introduced to creativity & aesthetics through 'idea to design'. I got hands-on experience in how the clients work with teams and what they expect from the teams and how they want us to work. In 'idea to design', we achieved a clean-looking shelf that worked on motors and sensors. This was my first time building something lifelike and working with various sensors. However, further into the course projects became much tougher and much more complex. With every project, the prominent tasks were divided amongst the group members. Regardless, I experimented with 3d modeling software, as well as physical prototyping with foamboards, woods, etc. Moreover, within the course of aesthetics of interaction, I dug deeper into the theoretical choices made for each part of the process with precise reasoning. Creativity & Aesthetics does not just include the feel and look of the prototype but its mechanics, functionalities, and affordances. Moreover, I improved my design software skills along with my prototyping skills as well by applying them in extra-curricular activities. However, I would have appreciated learning more and participating in using more different kinds of machinery while prototyping. Below are just a few snippets of evidence working in this expertise. Design is seen as a transformational process and responsibility (for guiding societal transformation).

Planavi, in which we combine an agenda and a navigation system. The app gives advice on the user’s route, based on your planning, traffic information et cetera. The app is, through the phone, connected with the board computer of the car. While being connected, the app offers real-time suggestions on how to improve the user’s driving behaviour. This way Planavi can help you with driving more eco-friendly
